BANYO THE PICTURE OF DIVERSITY

Club enters Premier's Multicultural Photographic Awards

SPORT has long been heralded for its ability to bring people together from a diversity of backgrounds and cultures.

Rugby league is no different, and the Banyo Junior Rugby League Club recently celebrated the diversity of cultures playing at their club when they entered this year’s Premier’s Multicultural Photographic Awards.

The club noticed the many cultures being represented at the club; from Australian  and Indigenous Australian, Filipino, Samoan, Fijian, Sudanese, PNG, Burmese, South African, Lebanese, English and Maori.

The club entered a photograph entitled “T-E-A-M: Together Everyone Achieves More” in this year’s Premier’s Multi Cultural Photograph Awards in the creative section.

You can see all of the photos entered in to the competiton here:

The photographs for the Banyo entry were taken when teams played at the Bora Ring, with the junior teams ranging from Under 7 to Under 15.

The series of photos were cropped and put together with the Banyo club logo and the slogan “It’s Not My Skin That Makes Me Win”.

The club’s Grants Sub Committee, led by Grants Project Manager Roslyn Nemer, has also been successful recently with a Queensland Government Grant which helps with the development and education of different cultures through the club and community.
