QRL MESSAGE FOR RUGBY LEAGUE FANS

Information regarding the Independent Commission

THE QRL has released a letter and factsheet to its supporters and volunteers regarding rugby league’s Independent Commission.

The Independent Commission proposes to restructure the game with New Ltd exiting the game and the partnership between News Ltd and the ARL being disbanded. The NRL clubs will get the 50% of the game previously held by News Ltd.

The QRL is not trying to block the Independent Commission as has been previously and incorrectly reported, but rather as a custodian of the game, it is trying to ensure that any changes will not have an adverse effect on the grassroots of the game.

As the NRL clubs represent the game’s elite and many are privately owned, the QRL does not believe it is in rugby league’s best interests to hand full control of the game to the clubs.

Anyone who has any views or further questions relating to the Independent Commission can contact the QRL at rugbyleague@qrl.com.au or (07) 3367 6000.
