RUGBY league is Queensland’s favourite winter sport and represents the pinnacle of athleticism.
At a senior level, rugby league provides excitement and action for Australian audiences to marvel at the ball skills, strength and endurance of the game’s true professionals.
For junior players, rugby league presents the opportunity to develop an invaluable set of skills, both physically and mentally as local children learn how to contribute and work within a team.
The Greater Brisbane Junior Rugby League is accredited as the largest rugby league competition in the world.
The organisation prides itself on being a welcoming community based on family values.
Currently boasting over 13,000 players and more signing up each year, the GBJRL geographically spans from Burpengary in the North to Beenleigh in the South.
For over 55 years, rugby league in Brisbane has created a solid foundation for children from the age of 6 to learn Queensland’s favoured sport and developing many young talents into NRL superstars.
Just some of the many players to have come through the McDonald's Fixture rounds premiership include current Queensland and Australia representatives Petero Civoniceva, Johnathan Thurston, Cameron Smith and Ashley Harrison.
Today, the GBJRL has 45 affilated clubs playing every weekend from April-September.
